Trying To Live Free - My Epiphany

Trying To Live Free - My Epiphany

Trying To Live Free - My Epiphany

Two things happened to me before I started to think about trying to live free. First thing was talking to my brother. Second, I started watching a couple of TV shows that made me think I could really do this.

My brother called me one day and started talking about a show he was watching, it was called "Alone". I never saw it but he loved it and he said he wanted to get into camping and looking into survival stuff. I thought it sounded cool but I couldn't watch the show he was talking about, because I didn't have the channel. So I thought let me look and see what is similar and see what I think.

The first show I found was "Live Free Or Die". It's a show about different people all over the United States that live free, or at least as much as they can. I fell in love with the show right away. Just watching them trying to live free and succeeding at it too! If you are ever thinking about doing something like this, this is a show that is good to watch. There is only 2 seasons of it but they show a great deal of the people and how they live with basically no income.

The second show I found was "The Last Alaskans". This show is great! It pretty much sums up how I want to live and how I want to do it. But one thing is bad... You guessed it, the cold. Now I live in the midwest so I am no stranger to the cold. But watching them and how cold it gets is crazy. I don't know if I could handle it that cold. Plus the amount of time that winter lasts there. Its probably half the year freezing, and half the year with ok weather. That is not for me.

But I can do something that is similar to both shows but I just would have to be in the midwest. I have children and other family and friends here so I wouldn't want to leave here.

So there you have it. Something so simple as a phone call and watching a couple of shows really got me thinking that I can really try to live free.

Now I am not foolish enough to think I can just talk to my brother and watch a couple of shows and "boom" I can live free. I spend at least a few hours everyday searching the internet, watching youtube videos and joining some groups on social media to get as much information I can about trying to live free. I am still a few years away from even trying to do it completely, but I am getting there.

I also am spending the money I have left over after paying bills and stuff to try and get all the stuff that will make it easier when I have to transition to trying to live free. I think it is all going to work. I will now post about some of the things I already did, and post about things I will hopefully do in the future.
