Trying To Live Free - Wordpress.org
It's been about six months since I started my trying to live free journey and with most things that I do, some changes need to be made. I really like using blogger for my blog but I want to be more in charge of how the website works and how it looks. I really like how easy it is to share my blog and the interface that I use to administer my blog. The themes that they have are very nice looking. I am looking for a more minimalistic website then one with all the flashy stuff. Right now it looks great but I need a little more.
Another reason I am thinking about changing how I host my blog is because of the news that Google Plus is shutting down next year. If you haven't heard about that sorry for bringing you some bad news. I notice that most of my traffic comes from Blogger and Google Plus. With Google Plus gone so is the people on there that view this blog. I am sad to see Google Plus go but it is out of my hands and I have to do what is best for my blog.
So with that I am going to go to Wordpress.org. I like the set up there because I can pick through thousands of themes and they are much more customizable on there than on Blogger. Plus they have so many plug ins to help with things like forms, SEO shopping carts, and all kinds of stuff.
Now that I am going to go through Wordpress.org, I need to host my website somewhere. I've talked to a bunch of people about free or shared hosting and I have gotten mixed reviews. I am going to try this option because I am trying to live free and I want to keep it that way if I can. I looked up many free hosting sites and I found one that got pretty good reviews. It is x10hosting.com. Most of these free ones have some bad reviews but this one I think got the most positive reviews. I will give it a try and see how it goes.
I will probably make the switch next week sometime before my next blog post. I will announce it on social media when the switch happens. This is a good switch and I think it will give me more freedom to do what I want without many obstructions.
