Home Made Toothpaste - Trying To Live Free

As I am going through this journey of trying to live free I am always thinking about ways to save money. Another great idea I found was to make your own toothpaste.
So I jumped on the internet and started looking this up. I have heard of people doing this so it wasn't hard to find a million websites on how to do it. Most were so complicated and had a ton of ingredients and I didn't want to spend too much money on doing this. So I just searched a bunch of different sites and came across a video on Youtube. (I will post the video below) It was pretty simple with only 2 ingredients. So I decided to try that one but make one adjustment.

I decided to add peppermint essential oil. I didn't think I would like the taste and I am so used to having minty breath when I am done brushing my teeth.

So here are the ingredients and amounts I used:
  • Baking Soda - 1/4 cup
  • Coconut Oil - 1/4 cup
  • Peppermint Essential Oil - 10 drops
That is it. The one thing I noticed is that it didn't really have a minty taste to it so I just used some mouth wash, which I already had, to give my mouth that minty taste.

It cost about $20 for all of the ingredients and I think it lasts about a month with the jar I have. I still have many more jars to fill so I am hoping it will last for about 6 months. So that is not too bad. Plus you know what is in your toothpaste and don't have to worry what you are putting in your mouth.

So here you have it. Try it out and let me know what you think. Here is the Youtube video that helped me out:
